1. General

Matchday Fantasy offers players a real fantasy football experience, with innovative updates to the game that will enhance your experience whilst not changing the things we all love.  We begin by offering the following two exciting competitions:

  1. English Premier League
  2. Football League Championship

Matchday is a fantasy football platform made by the players for the players. It is suitable for beginners, casual players, football fans and fantasy sports fanatics alike.

We bring real innovation to the game with features such as:

– real-time scoring;
– In-depth stats;
– customised contest lengths
– Tailored content… and much more!

This is just the beginning; wait until you see what we have in store for you as the season progresses!

No, this is a fun game for all age groups. Matchday is all about the game and the community where everyone is welcome! So, enjoy it with your friends and let us know what you think. We’re continually developing and improving the features we offer, so we’re really interested to hear your experiences.

No, you can play our games from anywhere in the world.

2. Your Account

This is the easy bit.  You can register with one click using your social media accounts of Facebook, Twitter or Google+.  You can also register via email, and all you need to provide is your name, email and select your Matchday Team Name.

The Matchday Name is your ID on the website. It’s unique – which means nobody else can register with your Matchday Name – and it will identify you on the Global Leaderboard and in your private leagues and contests.

Yes, you can change your Matchday Name as long as it is not taken by another user.

Access “My Profile” by clicking on the settings icon at the top right of the screen.  You will be taken to your “Profile” where you can make the changes your want to your details. Then press “Save” and the magic will happen.

Of course. In “Profile”, click “Change Password”. You will need to enter your old password and the new one. Once confirmed (call us over-cautious…), press “Save”.

You should keep your password safe and sound, but we understand, you probably have too many to remember all at once, so if you have totally forgotten your password, just click on “Forgot Password?” on the Login pop-up. You will be asked to insert your email address, then you will receive a link to reset your password. Follow the instructions (its why we write them), and you should be good to go.

 3. Social

A group is a social space where members can interact, compete, post challenges, and banter about the latest news or events within their group. The group homepage operates around a timeline where all members can post and view other members’ posts.

As a default, all groups created by a user are private.  However, there are different levels of privacy that can be selected when creating a group such as member authentication and invite codes which can be shared.  These can be toggled on or off at any time by the admin in the edit group page.

You can be in as many groups as you like, there are no limits.

There is no limit to the number of people in a group

Our social platform is based around groups rather than individual user profiles.

Posting on your group wall works the same as most social media platforms.  In the “Post Something” text box, just type whatever you want to say and press post.

This will now be displayed on your group wall, where members can like, comment and share.  It will also be pushed directly to every member of that group, where it is displayed on their own personal timeline.

Only the members of that group will be able to view the content.

Absolutely.  You have multiple ways to share on social media.  Every time you see a share button on a piece of content you will be presented with a number of options.  You can share on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Email or simply copy the link and share on Whatsapp etc.

If you have something you want to share from an outside source / website, then simply copy the URL of the webpage and paste it into the “Post Something” text box.

If you want to also make a comment about the post, simply delete the text in the text box and type your own witty chat and press post

Facebook, make it a little trickier for people to share content outside of Facebook (Yes, there is a world outside of Facebook!)  So, if you want to share content that you find on Facebook, simply follow these steps:

  1. Firstly, on Facebook, click on the downward arrow on the top left of the post “Ú”, and click on embed.
  2. Then you need to click on the “Advanced Settings” link which takes you to a page where you can actually get the share URL (Yes, I know, they don’t make it easy!).
  3. Now you can copy the “URL of post” and paste into your group like you would from a normal website.

We take offensive behaviour very seriously, and constantly review the platform for anything that breaches our terms of use policy. However, we may miss something from time to time and have implemented a user reporting function that allows you to flag anything you find offensive or upsetting.

Next to each post and comment, you will find “…” which allows you to report.  Simply choose the report type and your reasons for reporting and this will be immediately brought to our attention and placed under review.  The comment will be hidden pending our decision.

4. The Game

A Matchday Fantasy contest is based on a group of real matches taking place in one of two competitions we offer. When you create the contest, you select the competition and the length of the contest.  You can then choose who you want to play against and then Matchday makes it happen.

A Matchday contest is created by the team at Matchday Fantasy and is open for all users to join. You won’t need any invitations or codes to access. Simply browse your dashboard and find the contests you like. You are now ready to start! All points you earn entering Matchday Contests will contribute to your position in the Global Leaderboard.

A private contest is created by you where you can invite your friends from your group to play. You can create a private contest by clicking on any of the “Create Contest” buttons around the site.  Only the people that you invite will be able to join and take part. We do the rest – everything from showing you player stats as you pick your team, through inviting the other members of your league, to scoring in real time and maintaining the league positions in your private Leaderboards. If you feel your friends don’t provide you with enough competition, then try your luck in our Matchday Contests which are free to join and can be found in the “Contests” section.

A Challenge is a short winner takes all contest for 1 week.  It includes the fixtures that are occurring in that particular game week.  You can only select players for your Fantasy line-up who are participating in the real life fixtures that week. Results will be announced after the final match of that week. This is a 1-on-1 contest between you and your rival to prove who is the real king.  If you’re feeling bullish, you can challenge as many people as you want

4.1 The Gameplay

Matchday Fantasy offers a variety of contests, all available to enter via the “Contests” section. Choose whether you wish to join one of the Matchday Contests or create your own private contest with your friends and/or colleagues. You will then be taken to the contest set up screen or the team selection screen depending on your choice.

Simply click on any of the “Create Contest” buttons found throughout the site and follow the instructions.  You set the parameters and create as many contests as you want!

There are multiple ways to invite friends to your contest.  After creating your contest, you can choose to invite your group or create a new one.

We have also introduced an ‘invite code’ that you can share amongst your friends.  A user can input their unique code, and they will be automatically invited to the given contest.  You can share this code instantly on social media using the “Invite Friends” button.

Alternatively, we have created a group admin panel where you can control your group and add new members.  Each new member will automatically be invited to any contest you have created using that group.

If you have been sent a contest invite email, then simply click on the link which will take you to the team selection screen.  After creating your team, you will see that you have been automatically entered into the contest. If you haven’t received an invitation, then check your junk mail or ask the admin to resend the invite.

If you have been given a contest code, then simply click on the “Received and Invitation” button and enter your code.  You will automatically be added to the contest.

You can also view outstanding invitations in the “My Contests” page or in your notifications on the top right of your screen.

Once you enter a contest you will be taken to the team selection page where you are able to pick the players for your team.  You need to enter a contest first to be able to select your team.  Once you have done this, you can use that squad to enter as many contests as you want.  Every change to that line-up will automatically be updated across all of your contests, so you only need to make the change!

Your Captain will score double points. Your Vice-Captain will score 1.5x points, so it is essential to give yourself the best chance of scoring points.

To change your Captain and Vice-Captain go to the edit team page and there are two dropdown menus next to your team which will allow you to select your Captain and Vice-Captain. This can be changed as many times as you want until the Gameday starts.

There are a number of ways to change your team once you have joined a contest.  You can access the contest itself in the  “Contest” section and then edit your line-up for that particular contest.  Alternatively, you can view and edit your team in the “Line Ups” section.  Players may be changed at any time by clicking the submit button from the team selection page.

You can change your team as much as you want up to 15 minutes before the first kick off of the Game Day.

If you are struggling to pick your team or are in a rush, then our nifty auto-fill option will help you out.  The auto-fill will randomly select a line-up for you based on the selection criteria you choose.  You can select one of the following:

  1.  Salary
  2. Total Points
  3. Average Score

It will magically pick a line-up for you, and all you have to do is give your team a name and choose a Captain and Vice Captain (we can’t do everything for you!).  If you don’t like a few of the players chosen, you can remove them and do another auto-fill in which only those players will be replaced.  This is tinker man heaven! There are no limits to how many times you can use this, so tweak and change as much as you want!

You can make as many changes are you want every week.  That’s right, we’re giving you a wildcard every week to tinker as much as you want with your line-up.
