FLC Gameweek 10 – Pick, Risk, Avoid

With the top four clubs facing off in gameweek 10, could it be a chance for someone from the fringes to do well? We look ahead to who will be the top performers in this round of fixtures. Here’s your PRA

Daryl Murphy – The Forest frontman is only one shy of the 50 point tally, with an impressive five goals already this season. Murphy scored again last week and will be hoping to repeat the trick as Forest host Fulham tonight. At 12.6m he’s not the cheapest striker at the moment, but an in-form goalscorer can be priceless. The fans will be in full swing under the lights, so expect a good performance from the home side and their leading goalscorer.

Bobby Reid – This week it’s Bristol City’s turn to face strugglers Bolton Wanderers. After last year’s promotion, Bolton have really struggled and haven’t won a game this season. With Bobby Reid – the league’s top point-scorer – in fine form, Bristol City will be confident they can get a win at home. Reid will be hoping to extend his goal tally beyond the six he already has. At 8m, he must be in your team for gameweek 10

Conor Hourihane – Another player at the 49 point mark is Aston Villa’s Hourihane. The Irishman was one of the top scorers in the Championship last year, but with Villa inconsistent form at the start of the season, he struggled. The Birmingham have recently started to produce the goods and Hourihane has been an integral part of that. With 5 goals already and an away tie at Burton Albion, Hourihane will be hopeful of producing the goods tonight.

Leo Bonatini – With a massive 50 points, Bonatini is one of the highest scorers in the Championship, and as the frontman of Wolves, a club that look like they could well be up there at the end of the season, he is rarely going to be a bad pick. However, Wolves travel away to Sheffield United this gameweek – a Sheffield United team climbing to fourth place after a derby win against Wednesday last weekend. A really tough game for Wolves, but Bonatini might be able to see them through with his quality.

Mendez-Laing – The Bluebirds’ Mendez-Laing rarely fails to score points. He is likely to get goals, assist, and contribute to defensive displays that lead to clean sheets. This has made him one of the highest scoring players in the FLC and has put Cardiff City in the promotion places. But the Cardiff midfielder will face his toughest challenge of the season yet against Leeds tonight. The two clubs face-off in what could be a game between this season’s top two.

Assombalonga – Assombalonga has shown he will be a strong goal scorer this season. With five goals already he is Middlesbrough’s top scorer and has fought off competition from the likes of Patrick Bamford. Boro have a home match this week against a Norwich side that have a resolute defence, but Britt Assombalonga is in fine form.

Samuel Saiz – Saiz, along with Lasogga, is one of Leeds United’s foreign recruits that have helped them climb to the top of the Championship table. While Lasogga has been the forward in real form, Saiz has been performing very well but not bagging the necessary points in fantasy football. As second place Cardiff City host The Whites tonight, expect a tense affair. Both teams have very strong defences.

Barry Douglas – Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Douglas was at one point the highest scorer in the FLC but in recent weeks he’s not been able to get forward like he was, meaning his points have dried up somewhat. On top of the Wolves defender has been part of a team that have struggled to keep clean sheets, and while their attack is lethal, there have been plenty of questions asked about their defence.

Gary Madine – Madine hasn’t done too badly this season, considering the woeful form of his Bolton side. He has 31 points, two goals, and two assists. However, his form in the last three games has been very poor, his only points have come from appearances. Bolton have a long trip down to Bristol City for tonight’s game just as The Robins have started to put a run of results together.
